چکیده

Electronic biosensors offer a viable alternative to optical biosensors for the rapid, specific, and sensitive detection of DNA. We are utilizing an electrolyte-oxide-semiconductor (EOS) biosensor system on a SiO2/Si surface for impedimetric detection of DNA. Detection in this system is based on the intrinsic negative charge of DNA. Hybridization of target DNA to the probe-functionalized semiconductor electrode causes a change in the surface charge density, which results in a measurable shift of the impedance response. To covalently bind probe DNA sequences to the biosensor surface, we have activated and functionalized the SiO2/Si surface with aminosilanes, followed by coupling with activated probe DNA. Efficient and specific hybridization was verified via fluorescence and atomic force microscopy (AFM). To increase the sensitivity of our system, we are coupling a novel exponential isothermal DNA amplification reaction (EXPAR) with impedimetric DNA detection.

The energy transfer associated with reactions at metal surfaces produces energetic electrons and holes. Using ultrathin films of Pd on metal-semiconductor (MS) and metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) diode structures, we have investigated reaction-induced electrical phenomena associated with a variety of molecular and atomic interactions with the Pd surfaces. Distinct electronic signals are observa...

A Theoretical Investigation for Electronics Structure of Mg(Bio2)2 Semiconductor Using First Principle Approach

The Mg(BiO2)2 is the orthorhombic crystal system acting as semiconductor in electric devices. To evaluate electronic band structures, the total density of state (TDOS) and the partial density of state (PDOS), Generalized Gradient Approximation (GGA) based on the Perdew–Burke–Ernzerhof (PBE0) was used for Mg(BiO2)2. The band gap was recorded at 0.959 eV, which is supported by a good semiconducto...

Real-time, multiplexed electrochemical DNA detection using an active complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor biosensor array with integrated sensor electronics.

Optical biosensing based on fluorescence detection has arguably become the standard technique for quantifying extents of hybridization between surface-immobilized probes and fluorophore-labeled analyte targets in DNA microarrays. However, electrochemical detection techniques are emerging which could eliminate the need for physically bulky optical instrumentation, enabling the design of portable...
